Twilio Is Asking You to Switch Consoles — What to Do
If you logged into Twilio and saw a banner asking you to switch consoles, here's what it means, what actually changes, and why you should just say yes.
What the prompt is telling you
Twilio's banner reads something like "We've revamped the Console to make building and scaling easier" — that's Twilio's own migration notice, prompting you to move from the old console.twilio.com to the new 1console.twilio.com, which reached General Availability in May 2026. It's not a scam, a phishing attempt, or an A/B test — it's Twilio rolling out its new account portal to everyone.
Should you switch?
Yes — switch now. Here's why:
- Every Linxi help guide (including this whole site) is written and verified against the new console
- New Twilio features are being added to the new console going forward — the old one isn't getting new capabilities
- The old console is expected to be phased out over time as the new one matures
- Your account, phone numbers, and configuration are the same underlying data either way — switching consoles doesn't move or reset anything
What changes after switching
Only the navigation — where things live in the menu. See the full old-vs-new path reference below (also on the Create Twilio Account page).
| What you need | Old console path ❌ | New 1console path ✅ |
|---|---|---|
| Account SID | Main dashboard | Settings → Account settings → API keys & auth tokens → Auth tokens tab |
| Auth Token | Main dashboard → Show | Settings → Account settings → API keys & auth tokens → Auth tokens tab → eye icon |
| Phone Numbers | Phone Numbers → Manage → Active Numbers | Products and services → Communications → Numbers and senders |
| Messaging Services | Messaging → Services | Products and services → Communications → Messaging → Services |
| A2P Registration | Messaging → Regulatory Compliance | Products and services → Communications → Messaging → Trust & compliance |
| Compliance Profile | Trust Hub (separate section) | Products and services → Trust Hub → Profiles |
| Webhook Config | Phone Numbers → your number → Configure | Numbers and senders → your number → Configure → Messaging Configuration |
| Account Settings | Account → Settings | Settings → Account settings |
What does NOT change
- Your Account SID stays exactly the same
- Your Auth Token stays exactly the same (though you may need to look in a new spot to view it — see the table above)
- Your phone numbers stay exactly the same
- Your webhook configuration stays exactly the same
- Your A2P Brand/Campaign registrations stay exactly the same
- Your billing history and payment method stay exactly the same
Switching consoles changes the menu you click through — it's the same underlying Twilio account, same data, same everything else.
How to switch
- Click "Switch to the new Console" on the banner, or go directly to 1console.twilio.com
- Log in with your existing Twilio credentials — same email/password or SSO as always
- Everything is already there; you're looking at the same account through a new interface
- Bookmark 1console.twilio.com so you land there directly next time
What's new in the new console
- Unified sender onboarding — one guided checklist for selecting, purchasing, and configuring a sender instead of separate flows
- Trust Hub, centralized — compliance profiles and brand info live in one place instead of being scattered
- Twilio Console Assistant — a built-in AI assistant for navigating the console and troubleshooting
- Email as a native channel — set up and send email alongside Messaging and Voice, on the same account structure and billing
- Consolidated billing — usage and billing across products in one central view instead of per-product pages
